My clients struggle as you might. Despite being compassionate, ambitious and respected leaders in their careers, always looking out for others, and try to show up as the best version of themselves in their relationships, life can be difficult. 

When couples first inquire about couples’ therapy, they feel disconnected from each other feeling stuck in the same relationship patterns over and over again. They are finding security in throwing themselves into their work, getting home late or working long hours, hoping that they will avoid talking about the state of their relationship. They realize the sparks have disappeared and there is less intimacy and physical touch. They question their ability to be able to meet their partner’s needs. They feel guilty and ashamed because they don’t think that they’re able to be there for their partner. The relationship feels like both partners are on parallel train tracks, moving in the same direction but feeling distant. They acknowledge that if things don’t change, it’s going to suffocate all the air out of the relationship. 

Their decreased physical and emotional affection gets in the way of the life they want to build together in so many ways. They aren’t the kind of partner they want to be. They feel like they’re failing in the relationship. And their confidence in their ability to support each other is tanking. 

Before considering couples’ counselling, they were spending more time engaged with work and actively avoiding spending time with each other. They worried there was little hope for things to get better. And they were pretty certain the shame they felt about not being good enough, would eat them alive and destroy the relationship. The emotional distance felt unbearable.

Hi, I’m Ekaterina!

I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and Licensed Mental Health Counsellor who works with couples who feel emotionally and physically disconnected with each other.

I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help you through navigating various challenges in relationships and exploring big life decisions such as moving in together, getting engaged or married, establishing relationship agreements or navigating polyamory, experiencing conflicting life goals, moving past an emotional injury such as an affair, and experiencing mental health concerns.

My goals is to help partners experience increased emotional connection and security in your relationships. Regardless your relationship structure (monogamous or consensually non-monogamous), I work with partners to help expand your ability to share vulnerably and witness your partner and the relationship in a different way. I offer a non-judgmental and empathic approach to explore your relational dance and help you turn towards each other.

I meet with you individually and together to determine your goals and get to know you.

Step 3: Arrange frequency

I meet with you as a couple for 60- or 90- minute sessions weekly or bi-weekly.
