I love helping couples navigate life’s speed bumps

Meet Ekaterina

(she/her)

Hi, I'm Ekaterina Kapoustina. I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and Licensed Mental Health Counsellor who works with couples who have challenges feeling emotionally connected with each other. My goal is to help you decrease times of feeling disconnection and frequent arguments while encouraging you to express your needs and emotions to feel more secure and authentic in your relationships.

My own growth through personal life struggles is what helps me relate so deeply with clients. I've experienced moments of turmoil in my relationships with partners, family, and friends. I know how challenging it is to want to strive for connection while wanting to shelter yourself from heartbreak. As humans, we're not perfect, and we will not 'get it right’ every time. What matters is how we come back together and repair. My life experiences are what lead me to become the therapist I am today.

Being a therapist is an honor that I do not take lightly. It takes courage to reach out and speak about something so private. I love empowering couples to share their vulnerable sides to increase understanding of each others’ experiences and watching them rediscover their love for each other while facing life’s tests. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is seeing relationships transform from cold and distant to close, nurturing, and filled with fun. I am committed to helping you experience healing and transformation in yourself and your relationship.

Our sessions are focused on you and your relationship.

Sessions will provide you with the space to be understood and heard. In feeling safe and comfortable, you'll be able to express your thoughts and feelings and experience your partner and yourself, in a different light.

It's important to me to create safety within sessions and ensure that the process is collaborative between both partners. I believe that just as the ways of relating to others can be learned from our caregivers while growing up, the power to change learned behaviours and reactions in adulthood is just as possible. There isn't a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.

I have a genuine interest in others and I bring warmth, curiosity and understanding to our sessions. I help you to identify what you are feeling, collaborate with you to set goals and reach them, help you explore how the past has contributed to the present, and change the relationship dynamics without escalating arguments and shutting each other out.

I strive to offer a non-judgmental space where both partners can talk openly about what is happening for themselves and we can identify and tackle the cycle and form long-lasting changes. I believe you have the power to change the dynamic that you’re stuck in the present day. When people feel seen they start to heal, and the opportunities for growth are endless. It all starts with taking a risk to take one small step forward.
